In the archive named Sonic.ar.00 there is a image called ui_ps1_gauge1.dds while the gauge is still used in the final game, everything else is unused and only featured in an earlier version of the game. The relevant icon was moved downward in the final image. It is mostly the same, but the icons were changed completely between versions, and the early version's screenshot of the university is closer to the top than in the final due to an icon of Pickle in the way.
